Iran and South Africa discussed the resumption of deliveries of Iranian oil
Almaty. April 30. Silkroadnews - Islamic Republic of Iran and South Africa discussed the expansion of cooperation in the energy sector, informed the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Thursday.
These and other issues of bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting in Tehran by Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and Minister of Energy of South Africa Tina Dzhoemat Petterson.
The two sides also discussed a wide range of other issues of bilateral relations and examined a number of concrete proposals on deepening cooperation between the two countries' in oil and gas industry. In this regard, both sides expressed mutual interest in the speedy resumption of the supply of Iranian crude oil to markets of South Africa after the expected withdrawal of international sanctions.
Before tightening the sanctions regime in 2012, the Islamic Republic was the main exporter of black gold to South Africa, delivering over 2 million barrels of oil a month.
