Iran and Syria agreed to strengthen economic cooperation

Almaty. May 20. Silkroadnews - Iran and Syria signed a package of agreements on strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the economic sphere, informed the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Wednesday.
In particular, the documents signed during the visit to Damascus, provide the expansion and deepening of cooperation between the two countries in the field of investment, industrial production, energy and healthcare sectors.
As stated, Secretary of the Council of Ministers of the Syrian Arab Republic Tayseer al-Zoubi, in the framework of reached agreements, the Iranian side will supply to Syria food, consumer goods, medicines and equipment, the list of which will be approved by the Syrian government on a regular basis. According to him, signed agreements create the necessary conditions to accelerate the timing of such deliveries, helping to avoid all sorts of bureaucratic delays.
The parties also reached an agreement on the supply of Iranian crude oil to Syria, provision of the Syrian health facilities with essential medicines and medical equipment produced in Iran. In addition, Iran will continue to supply electricity to the Syrian side, in the volumes necessary to maintain the smooth functioning of the energy system of the Arab state.
As the head of the Iranian-Syrian commission on economic cooperation Rustam Qasemi, these agreements will favorably impact on improving the quality of life among ordinary Syrians. He stressed that the people and government of Iran are determined to continue support and assistance to the Syrian people, who are at the forefront of the struggle against the forces of international terrorism.
