Iran and the UAE are planning to create a single grid

Almaty. October 2. Silkroadnews - Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are in talks on the formation of a unified power grid, reports the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
"The experts of the two countries have completed the review and approval of the first phase of the project, according to which generated electricity in the south of Iran will be supplied to the UAE", - said Deputy Director General for Planning and Development of the national company for the production, transmission and distribution of IRI "Tavanir" Ismail Muhsin Kabir.
According to the project, exchange of electricity between Iran and the UAE will be implemented through a high-voltage dc transmission type HVDC 500 kW.
According to him, the second phase of the project, which is currently under consideration, will provide the required technical infrastructure for the exchange of up to 1.5 thousand Megawatts of electricity between the two countries.
The representative of the national company also noted that the implementation of this project requires huge financial investments and the parties had reached an agreement on its financing on a "50:50".
However, he said that the company "Tavanir" is in negotiations on the exchange of electricity with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
