Iran and Ukraine plan to cooperate in the oil and gas transit field

Almaty. August 2. Silkroadnews – Iran and Ukraine plan to cooperate in the oil and gas transit field, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh said following a meeting with Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Igor Nasalik, IrTAG writes.

The minister said, Iran has offered Ukraine a cooperation in the field of oil supply. According to him, Ukraine’s refining capacities are not that big, thus, the country is to import petroleum products. With this B. Zangeneh also added that Ukraine has an effective transit system. He noted, further consultations to discuss the issue will be held in the future.

“It is necessary to consider if it will be reasonable from both the practical and cost-effective points of view to transit a part of the Iranian oil to the Czech Republic and Slovakia through Ukraine. Ukraine has a developed industry, and now we are working with them in the field of turbines and compressors for the gas industry”, B. Zangeneh said.

According to him, a development of trade is the fastest and most effective way to start a mutual cooperation, with a potential to develop further cooperation in other directions.
