Iran became the world's leading exporter of pistachios

Almaty. October 8. Silkroadnews - Iran took the first place in the world in terms of production and exports of pistachios ahead the US, said the Ministry of Agriculture of Iran.
According to the customs administration, export of Iranian pistachios in the first half of the current Iranian year (21.03-22.09 2015) jumped more than 300% compared with the same period last year and set a new record, according to local media.
In particular, during this period, Iran sent for export to 52 countries more than 25.2 thousand tons of pistachios in the amount of $208 million, which exceeds 315% by weight and 310% in value compared to last year.
During the past year Iran has cultivated 248 thousand tons of pistachios, and more than 182 thousand tons were sent for export to 170 countries, the total sales reached $1.6 billion.
