Almaty. December 16. Silkroadnews - The first domestic parallel robot is created by a group of Iranian engineers from the Open University of Qazvin (Qazvin Open University), the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
A new parallel robot, also known under the classification of "delta robot" was designed and built by a group of students and teachers from the Center for Robotics and "smart" technologies of Qazvin Open University, located 150 km north-west of Tehran.
As told the head of Centre Mustafa Mahmudi during the 15th exhibition of scientific and technical achievements in Tehran, due to their kinematic chain structure, the key feature of the delta robots is that the design of the manipulator uses parallelograms that allows it to store the spatial orientation of the robot actuator .
According to him, the new development is capable of carrying various items weighing up to 5 kg, may be involved in the production line conveyor type, the welding of high accuracy and high mechanical action under extreme atmospheric pressure, as well as more than a dozen other useful actions and operations of civil and military applications.
To date, the average cost of foreign analogues of these machines amounts to about $1,400, while the production costs to create one unit of the Iranian delta robot should not exceed one third of this sum, said the head of the center.
M.Mahmudi added that soon will be mass production of Iranian prototype with a view to promoting and implementing both domestic and foreign markets. So, according to him, already signed contracts with three different companies for the production of 7 parallel robots.
In addition, Mahmoudi stressed that installed on the module software, is a 100% domestic product.
