Iran elected a new head of the Council of Experts

Almaty. March 10. Silkroadnews - Mohammad Yazdi, was elected the new head of the council of experts, informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Tuesday.
In support of the candidacy of 84-year-old M.Yazdi voted 47 of 73 council members.
The new head of the council of experts is also a member of the Board of Guardians.
It is noted that the previous head of the Council Mahdavi Kani Mohammad Reza died in October 2014 after a long illness.
The Assembly of Experts of Iran is considered the most influential public authority of the country because it has the right to appoint the supreme leader of the country and oversee its activities and the activities of its subordinate organizations and agencies.
The Council consists of 86 members elected by the population to the eight-year term.
