Almaty. June 30. Silkroadnews – Iran fulfills its obligations under the nuclear deal made in July 2015 with the P5+1 (Russia, the Great Britain, Germany, China, the United States and France), the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman said at the Security Council meeting, TASS reports.
“Jeffrey Feltman presented a report on implementation of resolution 2231 adopted by the UN Security Council in 2015 to support the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program – the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). J. Feltman noted, in each of the seven reports on the agreement implementation the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recorded the fulfillment of the Islamic Republic’s obligations related to its nuclear program”, the publication reads.
With this he also added, “the Secretary General did not receive any reports. In addition, he is not aware of any information provided out of the open sources on supply or sale of nuclear materials to Iran in violation of the resolution”.
According to J. Feltman, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres believes the full realization of the JCPOA by all the parties involved “will guarantee that Iran’s nuclear program remains exclusively peaceful”.
However, in his report the UN Under-Secretary-General also listed a number of steps by Tehran causing concern among the Western members of six major powers. First of all, this concerns missile launches. J. Feltman also drew attention to media reports on foreign trips of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, whose name is included in the UN Security Council sanctions list among the persons banned from leaving the country.
