Iran has become the largest importer of Kazakhstani barley in 2016
Almaty. September 28. Silkroadnews – In January-June 2016 Kazakhstan exported 340.5 thousand tonnes of barley: Iran has become the largest among the importers, the press-service of Ministry of agriculture of Kazakhstan reported.
«From the beginning of the year until July Kazakhstan exported 340.5 thousand tonnes of barley. Among the volume exported 17.8 thousand tonnes of barley have been exported to the CIS countries, and 322.7 thousand tonnes have been exported to the non-CIS states», the ministry's press-release states.
In particular, the largest volume of 308 thousand tonnes of barley was shipped to Iran.
As noted, since the beginning of this year, Kazakhstan's winter and spring barley sown area amounted to 1.9 million hectares, with the largest area occupied in the North-Kazakhstan oblast – around 418.2 thousand ha.
