Iran has no plans to purchase tankers in China

Almaty. March 29. Silkroadnews - Iran has no plans to purchase tankers in China for the transportation of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG), director of the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) Jebel-Ameli Akbar informed, Trend wrote.

“NITC company does not plan to expand its fleet,” he said.

According to him, the company considers possibility of replacing some of its tankers but not with the Chinese vessels.

The Iranian fleet of supertankers is one of the largest in the world and consists of 42 vessels with capacity of up to 2 million barrels of oil each.

According to Jebel-Ameli Akbar, NITC strives to grow its potential for the liquefied natural gas transportation by sea.

Earlier, the Iranian officials have said about the negotiations with the companies of the West and China on the purchase of tankers to transport liquefied natural gas and oil.
