Iran has provided shelter for almost 2 million Afghan refugees - UN
Almaty. July 30. Silkroadnews - representative office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Iran expressed its appreciation of the conditions created by the country's authorities for IDPs from other countries, reports the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
"The hospitality of the people and government of Iran to the citizens of other countries in some ways is unique" - said Mansour Murtazopur during a meeting with Iranian and Afghan students in the capital of the southern province of Fars, in the city of Shiraz.
He noted that over the past 30 years, the Islamic Republic provides quality care and care of refugees from other countries, particularly from Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that, despite repeated calls by the Iranian authorities for help in securing the organization of Afghan refugees and their repatriation to their homeland, the country almost self-provided shelter more than for two million refugees from Afghanistan in the past 20 years.
