Iran has urged the US to guarantee the security of the EU banks
Almaty. February 5. Silkroadnews - Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif called the US to publicly pledge the security of the European banks entering into transactions with partners in Iran, IrTAG reports.
“Rebuilding the confidence of the banks that the United States will not re-intervene in their relations with Iran may require some further assurance from the United States,” said M. Zarif who arrived in London to attend the donor conference on Syria.
As informed by the mass-media, the White House still prevents the US nationals, banks and insurers from trading with Iran and also prohibits any trades with Iran in U.S. dollars from being processed via the US financial system.
European banks, in particular Deutsche Bank remembering past fines from US regulators for breaking sanctions, are also cautious regarding building the relations with the Iranian side, the agency notes.
