Iran increased gas imports from Turkmenistan

Almaty. October 3. Silkroadnews - Iran increased its purchases of natural gas from Turkmenistan, informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
According to the managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company Hamidrizo Araki, the volume of Turkmen gas supplies to Iran increased by 2 million cubic meters per day.
Currently, Islamic Republic daily imports about 10 million cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan, he added.
H.Araki pointed out that the purchase of Turkmen gas forTehran is in order to maintain and develop economic and trade relations with its northern neighbor in the long term. At the same time, compared with the beginning of the current Iranian year (Iranians celebrate new year on March 21), imports of natural gas from Turkmenistan to Iran was cut, said the head of the national company.
It should be noted, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said earlier that Iran has no need for purchase of gas from Ashgabat, adding that it is done solely for the purpose of "promoting political and economic relations with Turkmenistan".
