Iran intend to abolish the death penalty for drug smuggling

Almaty. December 9. Silkroadnews - Iran intend to abolish the death penalty for drug smuggling, reports the BBC Russian Service.
It is noted that currently the bill is under consideration of the special commission. Before the document will be submitted for approval by the Council of Guardians of the Constitution, it must go through several stages.
It also notes that the proposal for leniency does not apply to the armed smugglers.
It is reported that in the first six months of 2015 in the country were executed 694 people - most of them have been convicted under the law on the fight against drugs.
