Iran intends to double its production of "green" electricity

Almaty. January 15. Silkroadnews - Iranian authorities intend to double the volume of electricity produced in the country at the expense of renewable energy sources, informed the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
As the director of the Iranian power company "Tavanir" Humayun Haeri, by the end of the current Iranian year ( 20 March 2015), the government plans to achieve increased production of solar and wind power at least twice.
According to the Government of Iran plan to develop electricity from solar and wind energy by 2018 should reach 5 thousand MW. To date, all hydroelectric plants of Iran produces about 10 thousand MW.
Meanwhile, the head of "Tavanir" said the Islamic Republic now occupies a special place among the countries of the region in terms of the country's electricity generation capacity. Nevertheless, he added, in this area as there are many unsolved problems, the government should do more to ensure the rational optimization of energy consumption in the country.
