Iran intends to increase its strategic oil reserves by 5 million barrels
Almaty. May 5. Silkroadnews - Iran intends to increase its strategic oil reserves by 5 million barrels, reported Trend with reference to the director of the Iranian company Petroleum Engineering (PEDEC) Abdolreza Haji Hosseynnedzhat.
As he explained, the plan will be implemented through the construction of new oil storage facilities in 2016.
According to him, ten concrete tanks of crude oil in the oil fields and Omidiyeh Gurreh are already under construction.
Storage of oil in the southern province of Bushehr has a capacity of 4 million barrels of oil, while the object that is based on field Omidiyeh in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, is designed for storage of 1 million barrels of oil, said A.Hosseynnedzhat.
Iran began in 2006, implementation of the plan to establish a global strategic oil reserves, to build 15 tanks of crude oil with a design capacity of 10 million barrels per day.
Since 2012, Iran also can store crude oil for 10-12 days in storage in the Persian Gulf.
