Iran intends to seek full membership in the SCO

Almaty. September 11. Silkroadnews - Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in the speedy delivery status of a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reported the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
Such a statement was made by the Iranian ambassador to Uzbekistan Mardoni Ali Fard, while adding that resolving the issue of accession of his country to participate fully in the SCO should contribute to the upcoming summit of the organization, which will be held in Dushanbe on 11-12 September 2014.
According to Mardoni Fard, after the expected approval by the Dushanbe summit rules for accepting new members in the SCO, Tehran plans to "step up promotion of its application for full membership in this organization".
The current members of the SCO are: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan, India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status. Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka - the dialogue partners.
Recall, on September 11-12 Dushanbe will host a meeting of the heads of the SCO member states.
