Almaty. December 2. Silkroadnews - Iran is expected to significantly increase the price of bread, informs the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Tuesday.
According to a spokesman for the Iranian government Muhammad Baqir Novbaht at the last meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers it was decided to allow the heads of provinces and regions to increase the price of bread to 30% of their current value.
In this case, the government will continue to pay subsidies to local flour mills and bakeries at the rate of about $2.4 per kg of flour, which will allow them to cover the associated costs for the manufacture of bread and bakery products, said M.Novbaht.
"This year the government allocated 70 trillion rials about $2.6 billion at the official rate for the payment of subsidies on flour in order to protect and ensure the bakery to improve the quality of bread", - said MB Novbaht.
However, he expressed the hope that the public now will reduce the complaints for the quality and weight of the bread, and the domestic producers of such products will not suffer losses.
