Iran negotiates purchase of refinery in Spain

Almaty. March 25. Silkroadnews - Iran is in talks to purchase the shares of the refinery or to build a new refinery in Spain, the managing director of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Abbas Kazemi said, Trend reports.

He did not specify whether Iran negotiates the particular refinery’s shares acquisition or the relevant industrial facility has not been chosen yet.

A. Kazemi, who is also the deputy of the Iranian oil minister, said the negotiations on acquisition of shares in refineries are also carried out with Brazil, Malaysia, South Africa and Indonesia.

“The purchase of shares in the large oil refineries has become a priority in the ministry’s work to ensure the country’s oil export in the long-term,” he added.

Earlier the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company (NIOEC) Hamid Sharif-Razi said that Iran already has a 30% share in a refinery with capacity of 250 thousand barrels per day constructed in Malaysia and is in talks to buy a 40% share in another refinery in Indonesia.
