Almaty. 5 January. Silkroadnews - Iran negotiates with Georgia on gas supplies through the territory of Armenia, “News of Armenia” agency reports.
According to Alireza Kameli, the Executive director of the National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC), through the negotiations with the Georgian side they shall bring the gas to the border of Armenia, where Georgia will receive it from Iran on the border.
“However, for the transaction to be closed the gas export plan should be cost-effective for Georgia”, A.Kameli added.
The gas export plan, he explained, is to supply 300-500 million cubic ft of Iranian gas per day through the pipeline used for electricity production in Georgia.
A.Kameli noted the planned gas export to Georgia directed for the domestic consumption, but not for the supply to Europe.
“In our view there can be no issue about the export of gas to Europe through the pipeline, and our priority is to export to Europe the liquefied natural gas (LNG)”, the executive director of the Iranian company summed up.
