Iran opened a free trade-industrial zone of the Indian Ocean Rim Association

Almaty. May 20. Silkroadnews – The first free trade-industrial zone of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) is opened in the port of Chabahar city in the southeast of Iran.

Managing Director of Chabahar Free Trade and Industrial Zone Hamed Ali Mobaraki said more than 20 IORA participating countries attended a two-day meeting to discuss the relevant issues in this regard.

He also said, First Vice-President Eskhaq Jahangiri, Minister of Transport Ahmad Abbas Akhund and Minister of Defense Hossein Dehghan represented Iran at the meeting.  

Managing Director added, a meeting of the IORA countries gives Iran an opportunity to present its maritime potential.

The initiative is designed to provide the member-states, as well as dialogue partners, with new opportunities for regional and multilateral relations within the free trade-industrial zone.
