Iran plans to import water from Tajikistan in exchange for gas

Almaty. September 29. Silkroadnews - Iran plans to import water from Tajikistan in exchange for gas, reports the Tajik news agency (TajikTA) on Tuesday with reference to the chairman of the Energy Commission of the Iranian parliament Ali Marvi.
He noted that the imports of the water is considered as one of the ways to solve the problem of water shortage in Iran.
According to Mr. Marvi, there are three options for solving the problem of water scarcity: import water from Tajikistan, from the Caspian Sea and the most significant offer - from the Gulf of Oman.
"From this source water will receive 21 provinces", - he said.
According to the Chairman of the Commission, experts are deciding what sentence to select. According A.Marvi, when he was deputy oil minister, he supported the idea of ​​importing water from Tajikistan. In particular, Tajikistan could give Iran the water in exchange for gas.
Recall, the heads of Iran and Tajikistan in 2011 signed memorandums to accelerate cooperation in the field of Water and Power.
