Iran plans to launch telecommunication satellite later this year

Almaty. March 25. Silkroadnews - Iran plans to launch its telecommunications satellite “Dusti” till the end of this year, Director of Iranian Space Agency Mohsen Bahrami said at the press conference in Tehran, IrTAG reports.

“The Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of the country has decided to resume the national space program, and this year plans to put into orbit its telecommunications satellite,” M. Bahrami said.

He also pointed out that the nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (five UN Security Council members and Germany) paved the way for greater cooperation with other nations which will contribute to expand and modernize the Iranian aerospace industry.

Earlier, Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said by 2025 Iran plans to put into orbit two telecommunications satellites using the new launch vehicle developed by the Iranian engineers. At present, the minister emphasized, Iran “is in talks with representatives of the international aerospace corporations to start supplying components required to manufacture the satellites in Iran.”
