Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hussein Dehkan in his speech at the ceremoy stated that new rocket launcher is most effective in combat missions on land.
According to him, the unit is designed to launch missiles Falaq-1 (240 mm) and Falaq-2 (333 mm), and it is one of the most powerful ground-based weapons, which to date has Iran.
Distinctive features of the installation are its high firepower, mobility and relatively short time of its preparation for the volley. At the same time it is capable of engaging surface targets within a radius of 10 km, the minister said.
As for the heavy vehicle, it is equipped with four driving axles, the front two of which are controllable.
According to the minister, Zafar is able to move freely over rough terrain and overcome different kinds of obstacles in his path. At the same time it has a payload of 24 tons with a range of 800 km course.
"A vehicle that is equipped with modern means of observation, surveillance and alarm systems, can also be fitted with various zenith rocket launch systems, radar equipment and command-staff items",- added Iranian general.
