Almaty. December 25. Silkroadnews - Iran suggested creating a regional intelligence cooperation committee to combat terrorism, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports with reference to Tasnim News Agency.
“Speaker of Iran’s parliament called for closer intelligence cooperation among regional countries in the fight against terrorism, proposing that the countries attending a counterterrorism conference in Pakistan should set up a committee to share intelligence,” the report said.
Speaking to the six-party conference on the threat of terrorism held in Islamabad, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani called on his colleagues from Pakistan, Russia, China, Turkey and Afghanistan to attach greater importance to the interaction between their intelligence organizations and data sharing.
He also proposed the idea of creating a special committee to coordinate efforts to combat terrorism and share intelligence to ensure regional security.
Condemning the Western so-called antiterrorist military coalition for its ineffective war against terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq, Larijani said the formation of the Iran-Russia-Turkey coalition was behind victory over the Daesh terrorist group.
“Terrorist activities would die down only when schools promoting Takfiri ideologies are closed, he added, saying Wahhabism has resorted to baseless and wrong teachings in the name of Islam to justify massacre of innocent people,” the report reads.
With this the agency points out, Iran has always called for concerted action by the countries of the region in the fight against terrorism and initiated cooperation in the field of security and intelligence with its neighbors to combat terrorist operations, especially along the border areas.
