Tashkent. April 28. Silkroadnews – Iran proposed Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan 40% railway transit tariff reduction on the territory of all three countries, as Embassy of Uzbekistan in Iran reports.
Uzbek, Turkmen and Iranian heads of Railway Authorities met in Tehran on the 27th of April. “Iran has proposed to introduce common tariff for railway transit that would be based on international railway transit tariff”, the Embassy representative clarified.
“1.6 mln tonnes of freight is being transited via these three countries’ railways. If the agreement is to be reached, this number can increase to up to 3 mln tonnes”, the Embassy estimates.
