Almaty. January 13. Silkroadnews - Iran has ratified the agreement on security cooperation with Tajikistan, TajikTA reports.
“On January 12 Iran’s parliament by a majority vote ratified the draft “Agreement on cooperation of Iran and Tajikistan in the field of defense and security”, the publication says.
It is noted that this happened contrary to the fact that earlier the Tajik Foreign Ministry summoned the Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan to express “regret” over Iran’s decision to invite the leader of the banned IRPT, Muhiddin Kabiri, to attend the International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran on December 27-29 last year.
To remind on December 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan handed a note to Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan Hojjatollah Faghani stating that the official Dushanbe was “greatly concerned” that “Muhiddin Kabiri, who faces charges of attempting to overthrow the government and dismantle the country’s statehood … has been invited to the conference”.
The Foreign Ministry noted that at present the IRPT leader “is wanted by Interpol”.
