Almaty. July 1. Silkroadnews – Iran sent its first oil tanker to export, foreign mass-media reports.

“Large-capacity tanker with Iranian oil is going to the Polish port of Gdansk on the Baltic Sea, the officials in the trading industry informed Reuters and have shown data by the marine vessel monitoring system,” the publication reported on Friday.

It is not known whether this cargo is purchased by Polish refiners PKN Orlen or Grupa Lotos, and whether the oil to remain in Poland or be transported to Germany, which is linked to Gdansk by the pipeline.

Regardless of the final destination, it is the first vessel that carries Iranian oil to the Baltic Sea markets after the sanctions have been removed from Tehran in January in return for its nuclear program reduction. This intensifies the struggle for market share among the major oil producers, including Saudi Arabia and Russia.
