Iran stresses the importance of resolving the crisis in Syria through political means

Almaty. July 23. Silkroadnews - Iran stressed the importance of resolving the armed conflict in Syria through political means, transmits IrTAG on Thursday.
The Syrian issue and an early end of the bloodshed in the Arab country became the subject of thorough discussions at yesterday's meeting in Tehran between the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Hussein Amirabdullahiyan and UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura.
In particular, the Iranian diplomat recalled the interlocutor of the unchanged position of Tehran in support of the government and the people of Syria, and said: "Today everyone already know that the solution of the Syrian crisis is only in the political arena".
The deputy head of the Iranian Foreign Minister thanked his counterpart for his efforts to develop political approach to resolving this long-standing conflict. He stressed that Iran recognizes the need of Syria in serious political reforms, but opposes any steps that could lead to a further escalation of tension in the country.
In turn, Staffan de Mistura also pointed out the futility of military means to resolve the Syrian crisis, and called for the speedy establishment of a direct dialogue between the parties concerned.
