Iran tested home-grown air defense system

Almaty. September 4. Silkroadnews – Iran has tested its home-grown air defense system, Pakistani Internet portal Dawn reported.
“Iran has tested its home-grown air defence system, designed to match the Russian S-300, the head of the Revolutionary Guards' air defence has said. “In parallel with the deployment of the S-300, work on Bavar-373 system is underway,” Farzad Esmaili told state broadcaster IRIB late Saturday”, report said.
According to the publication, the system has been completely manufactured in Iran, and some of its parts are different from the S-300. Bavar, which means “belief”, is the first missile defense system in Tehran and will be put into operation by March 2018.
It is reported that Iran started production of Bavar-373 in 2010 after the purchase of the S-300 from Russia was suspended due to international sanctions.
Russia resumed deliveries after the conclusion of the 2015 nuclear agreement and removal of sanctions, and in March the Iranian S-300 defense system was put into effect.
According to Iran’s new defense minister, Amir Hatami, Iran has “a specific plan to boost missile power”. He expressed the hope that the combat capabilities of Iran’s ballistic and cruise missiles would increase in the next four years.
