Almaty. August 2. Silkroadnews – In the near future Iran plans to raise gas exports volumes to 200 million cubic meters per day, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh stated, IrTAG writes.

“The country’s oil ministry plans to raise gas export supplies to the level of 200 million cubic meters per day in the near future. The Iranian exports is delivered to the neighboring countries by pipelines, as well as through the LNG (liquefied natural gas) project implementation”, minister noted speaking at the ceremony on the 50th anniversary of the National Iranian Gas Company held on Monday.

He added, for the recent years Iran has steadily ramping up gas production, including development of the South Pars field in the Persian Gulf.

“This year we plan to put into operation 4 sites in South Pars in addition to those operated currently. Ten years ago at this field we extracted about 41 billion cubic meters per year, yet, this year the production is expected to reach 236 billion cubic meters, with further increase up to 400 billion cubic meters next year”, said B. Zangeneh.

The South Pars is the world’s largest gas field. Its reserves are estimated at 13.8 trillion cubic meters. Iran has been carrying out a phased development of this field since the last century, having divided its whole area into 28 phases.
