Almaty. November 1. Silkroadnews – Iran has resumed gas supplies to Turkey halted as a result of explosion on the gas pipeline, Russian mass media inform.

Earlier it was reported about an explosion on the main gas pipeline Iran-Turkey in the eastern Turkish province of Agri that occurred on October 28. A fire following the explosion was extinguished. The supplies have been halted.

“The National Iranian gas company announced, at the beginning the volume of gas piping will make 27 million cubic meter, which is expected to increase within the next few hours as the pressure in the pipeline will grow and provide for the set volume of the contract required with Turkey”, the statement said.

The pipeline Tabriz (Iran)/Ankara (Turkey) has been operating since 2001, its maximum capacity is 7.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Turkey annually receives about 10 billion cubic meters of Iranian gas, which is about a quarter of the country’s imported fuel. Iran is the second largest supplier of gas to Turkey after Russia.
