Iran will provide Uzbekistan with airport for cargo transit
Almaty. February 19. Silkroadnews - Iran’s authorities plan to provide Tehran’s Imam Khomeini international airport’s capacity to Uzbekistan for freight transit. The statement was made by Iran’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Bakhman Agarazi Dormani, IrTAG informs.
“The negotiations with the representatives of the Uzbek air services completed successfully in Tehran, during them the sides have previously agreed on the establishment of freight traffic between Uzbekistan’s Navoi and Iran’s Khomeini international airports,” - B. Dormani said in his interview to “Uzbekistan Today” newspaper.
According to him, the Iranian airport can be used “as a transit point for further transportation of the Uzbek goods”.
The diplomat also noted that the geographical location of Uzbekistan in Central Asia “may be convenient for the development of transport communications of Iran within the region”.
According to B. Dormani, after the sanctions removal, Iran is ready to supply to Uzbekistan the modern equipment, promote the development of high-tech production lines.
“We realize for us it is more convenient geographically to compare, say, with the remotely located European countries, with the more affordable prices moreover,” - said the ambassador.
According to the Iranian side calculations, the trade turnover between Iran and Uzbekistan could rise up to $1 billion, compared to $250 million on the results of 2014, due to the development of transit facilities and new transport communications.
