Iranian and Turkish presidents called for improvement of bilateral cooperation

Almaty. March 2. Silkroadnews – On the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit the president of Iran Hassan Rouhani met with the president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) informs.

Among the other important topics of the meeting Rouhani and Erdogan discussed a terrorism issue. Rouhani has once again confirmed Iran’s adherence in the fight against terrorism and expressed his respect for the territorial integrity of the state’s neighbors in the region. He also rejected any possibility of the collapse of Syria and Iraq.

Concerning bilateral relations with Turkey, H.Rouhani pointed out that the two states could work to the benefit of stability in the region.

“Improved relations will serve both countries and the region as a whole”, president of Iran said.

He also stressed, killing of innocent civilians from air strikes in Yemen must be stopped.

In his turn president Erdogan has noted that Iran and Turkey move in a positive direction to ease the tension in the region.

“I share the view that the cooperation will serve our states. We are also headed in the same direction in the fight against terrorism, along with solving the Middle East’s pressing issues”, president of Turkey said.
