Iranian authorities have granted amnesty to more than a thousand prisoners

Almaty. February 12. Silkroadnews – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei signed a decree on amnesty for 1059 prisoners convicted of crimes against society and the revolution, IrTAG reports.
According to the office of the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the clemency petition was handed over to Khamenei by the head of the judiciary department Sadeq Amoli Larijani, on the eve of the celebration of the Islamic Revolution’s Victory Day.
Every year on February 11 Iran celebrates the Victory Day of the Islamic Revolution marking the overthrow of the monarchical form of government. According to the local mass-media, millions of people in all the cities of the country took part in the festive processions dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution that took place in 1979.
