Tehran. August 28. Silkroadnews - Iranian authorities may impose fines for excessive use of water, reported the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
"If consumers do not comply with the established norm of water use, we probably will have to think about the introduction of penalties against them" - said the Minister of Energy of Iran Hamid Chitchian.
The Iranian minister regretted that the Islamic republic in recent years increasingly have to deal with drought, according to him, the only way out of the situation is to save water resources for the population of the country.
H. Chitchian, said that the Iranian government spends lot of money on water, adding that the 20% reduction in the volume of water used by the population would allow the state to reduce these costs substantially.
According to the minister, every Iranian on average consumes about 250 liters of water per day, while in Germany the figure is just 159 liters.
