Almaty. October 31. Silkroadnews - Iranian Foreign Ministry called ridiculous Saudi Arabia statement that Iran is an obstacle to peace in Yemen, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports with reference to the Islamic Republic News Agency.
“A senior Iranian diplomat rejected the baseless claim made by Saudi Arabia that Iran is an obstacle in the way of peace in Yemen, describing the allegation as “ridiculous”,” the report said.
“From the outset of Saudi aggression against Yemenis, Iran has condemned the move and called for bringing a halt to the Yemeni war,” the agency quotes saying by Qasemi who also stressed that Tehran opposes any military solution to the Yemen problem.
“'Iran will spare no effort to stop this disgusting bloody war,” Qasemi said, urging the participating states in Riyadh not to repeat their mistakes and apologize to the Yemeni people to pave the way for stopping war and start negotiations between the opposing Yemeni groups.
He further noted that the problems in Yemen can only be resolved by ending the war, sending humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people and carrying out negotiations between all the opposing groups.
Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Adel Al-Jubeir during the Riyadh meeting with participation of members of the Arab coalition unfoundedly stated that Iran is blocking efforts to establish peace in Yemen.
“This is while Saudi Arabia with the help of nine other Arab countries, except Oman, has been mounting massive attacks on Yemen since March 26, 2015, to give power back to the resigned Yemeni president and prevent the Yemeni revolutionary forces from taking power. Since then, thousands of Yemenis, mostly women and children and old people, have been killed by Riyadh fatal attacks against the country,” the publication reads.
