Iranian foreign ministry protested at France for hosting a terrorist organization in Paris

Almaty. July 4. Silkroadnews – The Iranian foreign ministry protested at France for hosting a terrorist organization Mojahedin-e Khalq (MKO) in Paris, Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports.
“Undoubtedly, France is making a serious mistake about the terrorist group. Terrorists are terrorists anywhere they are, and Paris should avoid double-standards in this regard”, Pars News quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi saying.
To remind, last Saturday a meeting of the terrorist group MKO was held in Paris attended by some of the former officials of the United States, Europe and Saudi Arabia, including the former chief of Saudi intelligence, Prince Turki al-Faisal.
On July 9, 2016, Paris also hosted an annual meeting organized by the MKO terrorist group with participation of al-Faisal.
Founded in the 1960s the MKO took part in the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran back in 1979. Before the revolution, the organization carried out attacks against the Iranian and Western targets.
After the revolution, to take control of the newly-created Islamic Republic, the group started killing Iranian citizens and officials, including several new Iranian leaders in the first years after the revolution, among them President Mohammad-Ali Rajai, Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar, and head of the Iranian judicial system, Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti.
The group fled to Iraq in 1986, where used the protection by Saddam Hussein and helped the Iraqi dictator suppress the Shiite and Kurdish uprising in the country.
The terrorist group joined Saddam’s army during the Iraq war against Iran (1980-1988) having killed thousands of Iranian civilians and soldiers.
After the US invasion into Iraq in 2003, the group was supported by the US neocons who claimed the MKO would be excluded from the US terrorist list.
The US formally removed the MKO from the list of terrorist organizations in September 2012, one week after Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State, sent a secret message on this movement to the US Congress. The decision by Clinton allowed the group to have the assets under the US jurisdiction and do business with the US organizations, the US State Department’s statement said that time.
In September 2012, the last groups of MKO terrorists left Camp Ashraf, their main training center in the province of Diyala in Iraq. They were transferred to the Camp Liberty. Hundreds of MKO terrorists are now sent to Europe, where their names have been excluded from the “black list” two years before the US decision.
Over the past four decades, the MKO has killed more than twelve thousand Iranians. The terrorist group also killed a large number of Americans and Europeans as a result of several terrorist attacks before the 1979 Islamic revolution.
