Iranian scientists have brought a new variety of sweet tea for diabetics
Almaty. October 7. Silkroadnews - A group of Iranian scientists brought a new variety of sweet tea, which can be used by people suffering from diabetes, reports the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG).
New safe for diabetics product was grown by crossing Aloysia trifoliate (lemon verbena), stevia and conventional organic tea plants.
It is noteworthy that the tea was grown without using any pesticides or chemical fertilizers. For pest control in the cultivation scientists used conventional ladybirds.
According to the developers, the new product will be available in Iran until the end of this month.
It is known that Stevia is a natural substitute for conventional sugar. Thus the extracts obtained from the plants of this species, sweeter than sucrose to 300 times. Stevia not significantly affect the amount of glucose in the blood, and for this reason is shown in diabetes and other carbohydrate diets.
