Beijing. February 20. Silkroadnews - On Monday Jamiat-e-Islami (Islamic Society of Afghanistan) party refused to accept legitimate resignation of the governor of the northern province of Samangan, Karim Khedam, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
To remind, a few days earlier, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance announced change of governors of five provinces of the country.
However, Karim Khedam stated he was a victim to a plot, noting he has been appointed by the governor in coordination with Jamiat-e-Islami, thus, not to leave his post without a relevant decision by the party.
Yesterday, Jamiat-e-Islami representatives issued a statement to support incumbent governor of Samangan, having said no complaints were recorded against Khedam, as well as an agreement on the national unity government, which, according to the party, will be violated by the resignation.
In their appeal, Jamiat-e-Islami representatives called on the representatives of other parties, Afghan Ulema Council and international community to support them counteracting the president’s office’s policy, which, according to the party, aggravates the crisis in the country, Tolo reported.
