Japan delivered $400 thousand in snow-cleaning equipment to Tajikistan

Almaty. November 30. Silkroadnews - Japan delivered $400 thousand in snow-cleaning equipment to Tajikistan, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reported on Thursday.
“Hajime KITAOKA, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan, together with Rustam Nazarzoda, Chairman of the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, and executive officers of the Sughd and Khatlon regions, Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast and districts of the republican subordination took part in the solemn ceremony of completing “Projects for snow-removing equipment provision”,” the Japanese Embassy in Dushanbe reports.
The projects were implemented by the Government of Japan as a part of the Japanese government’s program for gratuitous assistance and humanitarian security projects for the general public. The total amount of the projects reaches $401.8 thousand. The projects have been initiated after the heavy snowfalls that occurred in Tajikistan last winter and resulted in numerous avalanches, traffic jams and human victims.
The regions of Tajikistan have been provided with 4 units of snow-removing equipment to eliminate the effects of snow avalanches and snow drifts of transport routes.
