JD.com to invest $1.6 billion in Xiangtan city development
Beijing. April 11. Silkroadnews - JD.com said it intends to invest 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, Xinhua reports.
The company also signed an agreement on strategic cooperation to promote its projects in the field of logistics, cloud computing, unmanned vehicles and robotic couriers.
It is also planned to create a demonstration database for “Internet Plus” projects in such areas as cloud computing, artificial intelligence and financial services, as well as tools for the development of digital economy in Xiangtan.
The Xiangtan government will also pool the resources of the two sides to create a logistics network so that local agricultural vendors can sell their products to buyers across the country.
Both sides will also jointly create an intelligent production innovation center.
According to JD’s chairman and CEO Liu Qiangdong, a large number of talented professionals and developed entrepreneurship in Hunan provide tremendous opportunities for the growth of new economic formats and technologies.
