Almaty. June 28. Silkroadnews – The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) considers the political settlement of conflict situations in the modern world to be non-alternative, TASS writes.
“The SCO aims to actively participate to form a more equitable polycentric model of the world order meeting the interests of each and every state, facilitate the process of democratization of international relations, create an effective global and regional architecture of security and cooperation, form a human community with a common destiny”, SCO Secretary General Rashid Alimov said speaking at the 2nd annual conference of CICA (Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia) Non-governmental Forum.
He pointed out, the SCO’ s commitment to political and diplomatic settlement of conflict situations on the basis of strict observance of universally recognized norms and principles of international law and strict adherence to the UN Charter principles remain unchanged. With this R. Alimov also noted, there is a growth of security threats observed in the world and related to the terrorist organizations’ activity increase resulting in escalation of tension in various regions of the world.
“Joint efforts to counter common challenges and threats, especially international terrorism, separatism and extremism, spreading their ideology and propaganda, drug trafficking, cross-border organized crime were and remain a priority direction for the SCO activity”, R.Alimov said.
“The solution of the most complicated task of effective counteraction to global terrorism requires joining efforts of the entire world community. In this regard, the statement of the SCO member states on joint counteraction to international terrorism, adopted in Astana, calls for formation of a broad international anti-terrorist coalition”, he summarized.
