Joint Sino-Kazakh Lianyungang terminal construction to start this summer

Astana. April 25. Silkroadnews – The construction of Joint Sino-Kazakh Lianyungang terminal is to start at the end of June, as Aset Asavbaev reports. Mister Asavbavbaev heads the transport control committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
“This is a joint project of Kazakhstan National Railway Company and the Port of Lianyungang”, Mister Asavbaev said at the briefing for journalists.
He says the Port of Lianyungang was chosen because its geostrategic location is convenient for freight transit to Europe.
Moreover, as Almaty-Khorgos highway is being launched, construction of additional border checkpoints is being discussed with China. Almaty-Khorgos is a part of longer Western Europe-Western China highway, the construction of which is to be finished in 2015.
