Kabul and Tehran have agreed to use the commercial port of Chabahar as a transit point

Almaty. August 15. Silkroadnews – Kabul and Tehran have agreed to use the commercial port of Chabahar as a transit point, Afghan news agency (AfTAG) reported.

The appropriate agreement was signed by Deputy Economy Minister and the Head of Islamic Republic of Iran’s Customs Administration Masoud Karbasian and his Afghan counterpart Ahmad Reshad Popal in Tehran during the meeting of the joint economic commission between Iran and Afghanistan.

Iranian government officials have called for the expansion of trade between the countries and signing of a new customs agreement on the use of modern, fast and effective methods for goods customs clearance.

Afghan representative expressed his gratitude to Iran for giving his country a transit corridor.

Earlier representatives of Afghanistan, Iran and India signed a preliminary agreement on use of the commercial port of Chabahar as an alternative to Pakistan export route for Afghan goods.
