Kazakhstan and EU to discuss opportunities for further economic cooperation
Almaty. March 17. Silkroadnews – 5th round of negotiations between Kazakhstan and the EU is to take place in Brussels on the 17th-19th of March. The negotiations are held in regards to the new agreement on enhancing partnership and cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU. As the Press Service of the Ministry of Economy and Budgetary planning reports, the agreement aims to increase the scope and range of fields for economic cooperation between the parties.
“There is an increased attention to the renewal and modernization of trade, investment and economic sections of the new agreement in light of the possible admission of Kazakhstan to the WTO. The broadening integration within the framework of the Customs Union and Common Economic space is also a reason for this increased attention”, states the message distributed on Monday.
As the distributed document informs, Kazakhstan and the EU share determination to use the agreement as a strong legal basis for broadening of cooperation between the parties under conditions of global completion, while pursuing economic and geopolitical goals of the parties at the same time. This was confirmed at highest level, when President Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with the President of European Commission, Jose Manuel Barrosso, during his official visit to Kazakhstan in June 2013 as well as within the framework of World Economic Forum in Davos in January 1014.
“The creation of this agreement is the first such development for the EU in its post-Lisbon period. At the same time, Kazakhstan is the only Central Asian state to reach this level of cooperation with the EU”, states the press release.
