Almaty. August 14. Silkroadnews - Kazakhstan and IAEA will sign an agreement to establish an international nuclear fuel bank on August 27, reports Trend.
The bank will be established in 2017 on the territory of the Ulbin Metallurgical Plant (UMP) in Ust-Kamenogorsk in northeast of Kazakhstan.
At the signing ceremony, which will be held in Astana, will participate representatives of the permanent members of the UN Security Council, including Britain, China, Russia, US and France, as well as the donor of the project - the EU, Norway, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates. On behalf of the IAEA agreement will be signed by Director General of the organization Yukiya Amano, on behalf of Kazakhstan - Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerlan Idrisov.
The International Bank of low-enriched uranium will provide reliable access to fuel for nuclear power plants of the countries.
