Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia have established Trans-Caspian transport consortium

Almaty. April 14. Silkroadnews – The railway administrations of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia have agreed to establish the international Trans-Caspian transport consortium, Trend reports.

Nadir Azmammadov, the head of press-service of the “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC, said the agreement was signed in Baku at the meeting of the operator companies engaged in cargo transportation via the Trans-Caspian route.
The consortium members are Azerbaijan LLC “ADY Express” and “ACSC Logistics”, Kazakhstani “KTZ Express” JSC and the Georgian company “Trans Caucasus Terminals”.

“During the meeting it was also decided to establish the consortium’s supervisory board. The board includes one representative from each consortium member-companies and led by the deputy head of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Igbal Huseynov,” N. Azmammadov said.

According to him, at the end of the meeting the parties signed the protocol and it was decided that the timetable of freight trains moving on the Trans-Caspian route will be determined in May.

On January 14 Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine signed a protocol on the establishment of competitive reduced tariffs for cargo transportation on the Trans-Caspian international transport route.

The Trans-Caspian international transport route runs through China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and then through Turkey and Ukraine to Europe. The first test container train on the route Shihezi (China)-Dostyk-Aktau-Alat arrived in Baku international sea trade port on August 3, 2015.
