Almaty. June 2. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan has prepared a number of amendments to simplify the rules allowing Kyrgyzstan’s citizens to stay in Kazakhstan, Serik Sainov, head of the department of migration police of the ministry of internal affairs of the republic of Kazakhstan, KazTAG reports.

“For the purposes of parity regulation within the EEU (Eurasian Economic Union – KazTAG) Kazakhstani side has prepared a “Protocol on amendments and additions to the agreement between the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the government of the Kyrgyz Republic on the order of staying within the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic for citizens of Kazakhstan and within the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the citizens of Kyrgyzstan” to stipulate for the countries citizens’ exemption from registration at the internal affairs agencies for the period of up to 30 days,” KazTAG quotes the ministry’s response.

The officials of the interior ministry reminded, at present only those citizens who arrived in the neighboring republic to work were exempted from the registration within 30 days.

“According to art. 97 of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, the member-state’s citizens arriving in the territory of another member-state for the work activities or employment, and their family members, are exempted from the duty to get registered within 30 days from the date of entry, i.e. citizens arriving for other purposes shall pass registration in accordance with the counties’ legislations,” the document says.

As the migration police reports, 33 thousand citizens of Kyrgyzstan have been registered at the internal affairs agencies for four months of the year.

Earlier mass-media reported the migration service of Kyrgyzstan planned to reduce the period of staying within the country’s territory for the citizens of Kazakhstan from 30 to 5 days, with reference to the current rules allowing non-registration staying within Kyrgyzstan up to 30 days for the citizens of Kazakhstan and up to five days’ non-registration staying within Kazakhstan for Kyrgyzstan’s citizens.
