Kazakhstan has been elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council

Almaty. June 29. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan has been elected the United Nations Security Council’s non-permanent member, said Kazakhstan’s Senate Speaker Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

“Kazakhstan has been elected the United Nations Security Council’s non-permanent member,” K. Tokayev wrote in his microblog on Twitter on Tuesday.

Earlier Minister of Foreign Affairs Erlan Idrissov informed the head of the government Karim Massimov that summarizing the results of second round vote Kazakhstan won support from 138 United Nations member countries versus 129 required.  

Republic’s prime minister congratulated citizens of Kazakhstan.

“My congratulations to citizens of Kazakhstan! Idrissov wrote we have been elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council,” K. Massimov wrote in his microblog.
